Composites reinforced by fabric have enormous application potential because of fiber reinforcement in both warp-wise and across warp. A new composite sheet with1-1.5mm in thickness made of glass fiber mesh and polycarbonate is prepared in this paper, which has superior strength and modulus compared with SFT, LFT and GMT. It is highly appropriate for the trends of automotive and home appliance’s lightweight.The effect of laminate structure and interface interaction between fiber and matrix on mechanical properties is studied by platen press firstly. The lay-up structure is designed by glass fiber mesh and PC film with different area density and the effect on mechanical properties is simplified by using mechanical property index. The results reveal that alternative lay-up structure of reinforcement mesh and matrix film is considered as the optimal and glass fiber mesh with lower area density is more appropriate to prepare composites with lower area density. Also composites made by thicker film and glass fiber with low area density have preferable mechanical properties. Glass fiber surface is treated by KH550. The effect of pH, KH550content, temperature, volume ratio of H2O and alcohol on mechanical properties are studied by designing orthogonal experiment of four factors and five levels. The optimal treatment condition is pH=9.0, KH550content=3%wt, temperature=60℃and volume of H2O and alcohol=1:0.Based on that, the exploration of process parameters of industrialized production, including belt line speed and pressure, is proceeded by double belt press as well as the effect on mechanical properties. The results show mechanical properties improves as belt line speed declines and thicker composites have a larger ascensional range. It is not appropriate for low revolving speed, which will reduce production capacity. Pressure has two side effect on mechanical properties and there exists an optimum value of pressure, which is critical for mechanical properties.
