In this paper, solvent corrosion and mechanical ball milling method were used to prepare superfine spherical Ammonium Perchlorate (AP), and a series of preliminary study on the characterization and Performances of superfine spherical AP which were prepared by mechanical ball milling method were made, the main conclusions are showed as follows:(1)Solvent corrosion:the industrial AP was as raw material, preparing different proportion of mixture of ethanol and water as solvent, their morphologies were characterized with scan electron microscope(SEM). Mechanical ball milling mothod:firstly, raw material AP was smashed by Jet Mill,and then superfine spherical AP particles was prepared by planetary ball mill. Through a lot of experiments, two kinds of typical superfine spherical AP particle were prepared, the final AP particle size (dso) were5.094μm and4.385μm respectively.and their performance were studies.(2)The SEM image of superfine spherical AP which was prepared by mechanical ball milling method shows that particles surface is smooth and less defects and particle has no edges and corners. The particle is spherical and with uniform size.FTIR results show that the superfine spherical AP has almost no change, the product is with high purity.(3)The impact sensitivity and friction sensitivity of the superfine spherical AP and non-spherical AP show that the impact sensitivity and friction sensitivity of superfine spherical AP are lower than the non-pherical AP. The impact sensitivity of superfine spherical AP(5.094μm)reduced from70%to38%, friction sensitivity of superfine spherical AP reduced from88%to43%.(4)Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC) analysis of the superfine spherical AP shows that endothermic crystal peak, low temperature decomposition peak and high-temperature decomposition peak all move towards low temperature. Compared with ordinary AP, the low temperature decomposition peak of superfine spherical AP (5.094μm)is forward from301.2℃to287.8℃and high temperature decomposition peak is forward from419.4℃to406℃with13.4℃earlier, the low temperature decomposition peak of superfine spherical AP (4.385μm) moves from336.5℃to301℃and the high temperature endothermic peak moves from449.1℃to436.7℃.In one ward all exothermic decomposition peak move to low temperature region.(5) In addition, result of the hygroscopicity and caking property of superfine spherical AP shows that hygroscopicity and caking effectively improved.
