The alcohol vapor among the exhaust gas coming from some chemical companies results in resources waste and environmental pollution. It is great economic significance to recover the alcohol vapor. A new rotating packed bed recovering the alcohol vapor efficiently has been designed in this paper, as traditional recovery equipments have the defects of big volume, high energy consumption and low recovery rate.The main parts of rotating packed bed, such as the spindles, import and export pipe diameter of gas and liquid, packing rotor, shell, liquid distributor, have been designed firstly in this paper, and the critical speed and power consumption have been calculated. And then, the mechanical property and internal flow field of packing rotor have been respectively simulated by ANSYS Workbench and Fluent software. Once more, the performance parameters of this equipment have been measured, and the experimental datas of pressure drop have been polyfit. Finally, actual application effect on alcohol vapor recovery has been preliminarily experimental determined.A new rotating packed bed with the parameters of3316r/min critical speed and2.0kW power consumption having the advantages of simple structure, small pressure drop, low energy consumption, high recovery efficiency, uniform liquid distribution, less liquid dosage, has been developed. The stress and deformation of packing rotor simulated by ANSYS analysis met demand, and the critical speed is3121r/min, which is in accord with the calculation result. The distributions of velocity field and pressure field simulated by FLUENT are mainly impacted by corrugated plate shape and packing rotor speed. The experimental results show that the scope of the unit-high pressure drops is from0to30Pa and that of the power consumptions is from0.6to 2.0kW, and the pressure drop and power consumption are mainly influenced by the gas flow and rotating speed. The formula with the error below10%has been polyfit from the data of the unit-high pressure drop and the operating parameters. The alcohol recovery efficiency of this equipment is up to95%.The new rotating packed bed recovering the alcohol vapor efficiently developed in this paper has an important significance to the alcohol vapor industrialized recovery.
