Multi-component glass fiber is an optical device which uses the total reflection law of light and make the radial spread in transparent fibers. It has many advantages, such as high-resolution, good flexibility, large numerical aperture and so on, so it has a wide range of applications in the field of medical instrument, industrial exploration and military equipment.Single fiber quality is an important factor that affects transmission of image quality of the fiber bundle. Since most of the current fiber forming process control based on experiments, which is lack of theoretical guidance. In this article, it considers fiber optics and fluid dynamics as the theoretical basis, using computational fluid dynamics analysis method, establishing the mathematical model of the fused optical fiber in the reheating furnace, and researching on the flow mechanism of contraction deformation. We use viscoelastic simulation software Polyflow to simulate the neck-down profile of optical fiber and analyze its radius, velocities and temperature on the optical fiber along the distance distribution. Meanwhile, for the fiber drawing machine vibration phenomena exist in the drawing process, the modal analysis is carried to the main structure of the fiber drawing machine-feeding mechanism by using the limited element analysis software Ansys Workbench. Finding out the weak link of affecting the mechanism and providing optimization proposal, thus improve the vibration resistance of the mechanism.
