Compared with other foams, melamine foam has been widely investigated due tothe advantages in heat, flame retardant and non-toxic. Currently, researchers are mainlyfocusing on the improvement of the toughness of melamine foam and the developmentof downstream products. However, direct functionalization about melamine foam israrely reported. The preparation of porous material includes hard and soft templates.This paper presents a new way,“solubility template”, to prepare melamine foam byusing of material changes in the solubility.In addition, the paper reported two new melamine formaldehyde resins to achievetoughening purposes. And a special performance of melamine soft foam was preparedby adding functionality particles.The content of this thesis includes:(1) The synthesis of melamine-ethanolamine-formaldehyde resin andmelamine-glycol-formaldehyde resinThe base resin was synthetic by melamine and formaldehyde with ethanolamine.And the acidic melamine formaldehyde resin was obtained by melamine, formaldehydeand glycol.(2) FormingFlexible Foam: By mixing the acidic resin and basic resin and adjusting the amountof emulsifiers, foaming agents, foam stabilizers, curing agent and functional particles,the conditions of the microwave radiation within a minute, soft melamine-formaldehydefoam with good performance can be obtained. Preparation of rigid foam: Difference ofsolubility of rosin in ethanol and melamine formaldehyde resins was used. First therosin was dissolved in ethanol and mixed with the melamine resin, rosin solubilitydecreases rapidly and precipitated. The size of rosin particles can be controlled byadjusting the ratio of the rosin material. After wiping out the rosin particles, the rigidfoam was obtained.(3) Functionalization of the foamMelamine formaldehyde is a water-soluble resin. In order to improve the propertiesof foam and prevent agglomeration of particles, it is necessary to modify the addinghydrophilic particles. In this work, nano-iron oxide particles rich in surface carboxylgroups were prepared by the traditional coprecipitation. Carboxylate iron oxide can be well dispersed into the melamine-formaldehyde resins, and has a certain acid. Foamedmelamine-formaldehyde foam is magnetic and plays a role in toughening foam.(4) Application of foamThe magnetic nanoparticles added in resin can react with the resin. The heatresistance and toughness of soft foams are enhanced. The oxygen index can reach42through the test of flame retardant. Enzyme loading of rigid foam macroporous resin issimilar to epoxy.
