The research of crumb rubber toughening polypropylene(PP)composites is raised in the context of the the global wasting rubbergarbage accumulated seriously which caused great pressure on theenvironment and the worldwide shortage of resources. This subject isan extension of the existing waste rubber solutions and development notonly be able to solve the environmental problems caused by the largeamount of waste rubber but also could recycle the waste resources, thenthe waste resources could be into new materials for practical applicationto improve the efficiency of resource use.During the preparation of GRT toughening polypropylene(PP)composites, with polypropylene (PP) as a matrix resin, accorded to theresearch of the different types of polypropylene of fluidity and price, inorder to select the higher cost of homopolymerization gradepolypropylene. The crumb rubber manufactured by waste rubber wasanalyzed its ingredients by FT-IR and TG in the micro. In addition, itcould get the correspondinganalysis made in the mechanics inconnection with different content and particle size of the rubber powderblending in the macro; different kinds of fillers had different effect toenthance composites, in addition, the content of fillers influenced theproperty; In order to further improve the comprehensive performance ofthe material, thermoplastic styrene-butadiene rubber (SBS) and ethylene-sodium acetate ethylene copolymer (EVA) were chosen as an auxiliarytougheners. Facing the defects among the composites, it needed addinterface compatibilizing agent to improve. Finally, the optimalprocessing program should be determined through the analysis about theprocess of extrusion and injection molding after the composition of thematerial was fixed.According the above analysis and research, PP (MI=6g/10min,I=3.6KJ/m2)was chosen as matrix resin. crumb rubber was maintoughener. The particle size of crumb rubber was80mesh and theoptimal content was15%, it could have approximately8-fold increase in the impact strength of the material and50%decrease in the impactstrength and tensile strength. The filler choosed Nano calcium carbonatewhich modified by titanate coupling agent, the optimal dosage was15%the results of the impact strength increased10MPa and the tensile andflexural properties were down2MPa and4MPa, mixing SBS and EVAwas auxiliary toughener and the optimal results is m(SBS): m(EVA)=1:1.The interface compatibility agent of EAA added which greatly improvedcompatibility between each component of the composite material. Theoptimal preparation of the material should be discussed through thediscussion by extrusion and injection molding.The new composite materials with high elasticity and high moduluswhich had reached the domestic and international similar materialstandards could apply to produce bumper.
