Produced by activated persulfate, the sulfate free radical,-SO4-, a powerful oxidant, can degrade most of the organic compounds., is a potential advanced oxidation remove technology. At present, the study of activation method is a hot issue. Thereinto, produce sulfate free radicals by heat, UV and transition metal ions, the technology in this work is simpleness and at mild reaction conditions, ambient temperature, are the better method to get SO4-.This text use four method to activated K2S2O8sunch as heat, Fe2+(UV and UV/Ag+, and use the common toxicity organic phenol as the aim pollutant, investigate the degradation rate of phenol in different factor, analysis the concentration change of phenol and COD, and the diversity degradation rate of phenol at different factor. At the last of experiment, in order to investigate the effect of sulfate free radical, add carbinol and TBA as depressor. Specific studies as follows:(1) The degradation efficiencies of phenol and COD were54%and48%by potassium persulfate of0.60g, per gram phenol in acidic condition at100℃within3h of reaction which are the best treatment conditions of phenol. And the potassium persulfate was hard to be activated under the condition of low temperature.(2) Heating and Fe2+synergy, the degradation efficiencies of phenol was investigated by changing the dosage of potassium persulfate and the Mole ratio of Fe2+and potassium persulfate under different temperature、time and PH conditions. The results indicated that the degradation efficiencies of phenol and COD were64%and75%by potassium persulfate of0.50g, per gram phenol and the Mole ratio of potassium persulfate and Fe was1:1, pH2, at100℃within3h of reaction which are the best treatment conditions.(3) Research on the activation of potassium persulfate in Ultravilet Light:the results show that the decomposition of potassium persulface is in a high speed under the Ultravilet Light, the degradation efficiencies of phenol and COD were65%and59%by potassium persulfate of0.60g, per gram phenol within2h of reaction. (4) Research of the effects of the UV/Ag+/K2S2O8study on the degradation of phenol. As known from the results:the UV/Ag+/K2S2O8study is the most effective among the four methods. The degradation efficiencies of phenol and COD were93%and86%by potassium persulfate of0.50g, per gram phenol and the Mole ratio of potassium persulfate and Fe2+was1:0.5in alkaline condition within2h of reaction. It is certified by the free radicals that the·SO4-plays the key role in the process of degradation.
