Natural forsterite generally contains7-10%FeO resulted in partial magnesiumions are often ferrous ions substituted, resulting in magnesium silicon ratio decrease,made of refractory materials easily chalking peeling. This study presents an artificialsynthesis of high pure forsterite method, in order to reduce the cost, using disusedmagnetite, talc, silica fume, tailings as raw material, through the volume density,porosity, X ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscope analysis experimentselects the best ratio of raw materials made of high pure forsterite, the best formulawas talc magnetite+tailings+silica (62%、8%、30%). To the optimal formulation forpreparation of high pure forsterite as main raw material, made of pure matrixrespectively with olivine powder, with high purity magnesia olivine, with the finepowder of high purity magnesia, silica fume and high purity magnesia, four forsteritebricks; after the performance test and comparison analysis later, the conclusion is: theuse of silica powder and high purity magnesia as matrix preparation of high pureforsterite brick linear change after heating rate is small, density, porosity, high lowtemperature flexural strength, compressive strength at room temperature is larger,high temperature linear expansion rate is low, refractoriness under load is high; afterscanning electron microscope analysis it can be seen that the specimen compactstructure, continuous, amorphous phase complete development, less porosity, highpurity.
