Cape Lambert Open Pit Mine is a large surface mine, the final slope after exploitation will reach up to over four hundred meters. The slope angle of open pit mining is an important factor that affect investment, cost and production safety. Slope angle has direct impact on open pit realm stripping ratio and affects the economic benefits of the entire production process ultimately. The research of get a reasonable slope angle aims to optimize the exploitation design, analysis the feasibility to improve slope angle, reduce the cost of mining, and ensure mining safety. The high and steep open pit slope stability analysis and slope angle optimization is a complex system engineering. Its fundamental is how to ensure that the open pit production capacity and security, that is we must ensure not only the economical stripping volume but also the slopes’security and stability. The main research work and content as follows:〢ccording to the geological and topographical map, using CAD software to create the slope model, and lay the foundation for slope stability analysis and slope angle optimization;(D According to engineering geological investigations and rock mechanics test results, using FLAC3D software to conduct slope numerical simulation and stability analysis, and using the strength reduction method to calculate the safety factor;︰sing FLAC3D software and LIZHENG geotechnical series software to analysis and compare all the slope angle scheme, and determine the economic, reasonable, safe and reliable slope angle.Take1.3as the design limits of the safety factor and get optimized results: the slope angle of northern zone’s hanging wall is74°, the slope angle of central zone’s hanging wall is71°, the slope angle of southern zone’s hanging wall is70°, the slope angle of all zone’s footwall is65°...
