Abstract:Powder injection molding is a new type of near net shape technology components combined a plastic injection molding with powder metallurgy technology. Powder injection molding process, mold filling process is an influential factor in a variety of nonlinear dynamical systems. It is significance to study chaos theory in Powder Injection Molding, and explore the nonlinear dynamics mechanism. The filling process of powder injection molding can be regarded as two-phase flow system composed of power and binder ignoring the gas affects. By software ANSYS, the numerical simulation of the filling process can be done, then we can observe the velocity field in the mold filling process, besides the pressure field and the powder volume fraction contours. Analyzing molding process values that have been obtained, we get the time series of the fluid velocity in the extraction process of the mold filling.Calculated the data by the C-C algorithm with the different plane under constant injection speed, to determine the reconstruction parameters, build the reconstruction space, to calculate the correlation dimension and K-entropy by the GP algorithm. The results show that the correlation dimension firstly increases with the increasing of correlation dimension, and then it goes to convergence, which means the PIM Filling Process presents a chaotic phenomenon; Studies have shown that the different plane has little effect on the correlation dimension under the constant injection speed, but correlation dimension is slightly smaller in the intermediate position which implies the system near the wall is more confusing; and study the K-entropy of different plane with the constant speed. And found that correlation dimension and K-entropy show the almost same characteristics of chaos in the filling process combined with the actual mold model analysis. However, different methods determine the comparative property and deviation.
