With the rapid development of economy, energy and the environment has become thefocus of our country, the development of low-carbon economy has become the developmentdirection of China’s economic future. And because of the unique coal-dominated energystructure, natural gas marketing has become the key of China’s current energy andenvironmental issues, and improving the ecological environment. Promoting the use ofnatural gas depends on its storage and transportation technologies. Common techniques ofnatural gas storage and transportation include natural gas pipeline (PNG) storage, compressednatural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and transportation and othercommon storage technology, and adsorption (ANG) transportation, natural gas hydrate (NGH)reservoir transportation and other new storage technologies. Which, ANG technology for itslower production costs and higher transportation security, gradually becomes a research focus.In this paper, the existing storage technology research of ANG adsorption theory as reference,ANG adsorption transportation process were designed and optimized. High surface activatedcarbon is chosen as an adsorbent by comparison, and method by extruding or compressingorganic binder is chosen to produce the molding adsorbent; ANG tank is designed based onbasis parameters of existing CNG tank car,16MnR is selected as the container material, theappearance of the structure is determined as cylinder, and internal heat exchanger system isset to eliminate the adsorption heat effects; use filters, adsorbents molding and redesigned airintake to improve adsorption filling agent problem; use optimizing the adsorbent and heatreleasing in cycle to improve the management issues of thermal effect; purged with nitrogenat high temperature to complete the regeneration of the adsorbent.ANG storage technology for engineering is designed in detail. Volume of the tank is42m3, effective volume is40m3. Straight tubes are built for heat exchanger system in the tank,using water as the medium. Based on a series assumption of the model of adsorption heateffect in the bed, diameter of the pipe of the heat transfer system is100mm by calculation, thewater flow rates of adsorption and desorption are2.5m/s and2.8m/s, respectively. Other keyequipment parameters and models are determined: the size of the pre-canister is1000mm×4000mm2; compressor power is350kW; the heat transfer area of the heat exchanger is116m2.Technical and economic analysis shows that the cost of using ANG storage is1.49Yuan/m3,compared to the cost of CNG storage2.79Yuan/m3, and the one of LNG storage,1.82Yuan/m3.ANG bottle with a lower cost, more secure gas supply mode, and longer life, has a broaderdevelopment prospects.
