By the end of2012, air-jet vortex’s production capacity accounted for1.96%of the total domestic capacity. Air-jet vortex is widely concerned by the industry because of its high yield, short process, a high degree of automation and so on, which shows that air-jet vortex has tremendous potential, combined with the rapid development of Jiangsu and Zhejiang air-jet vortex industry in recent years. However, researches on the air-jet vortex limited to the suitable spinning scope, yarn construction, technological parameter and so on, while researches on its techno-economic analysis are rare, such as its specific advantages in the cost and profit analysis.This topic belongs to China Cotton Textile Association’s project,"strategy consulting researches on new technology and new process in cotton textile", which is held jointly with Donghua University. According to cotton spinning industry and enterprises’ situation, the project group has made best effort to research and analyze specifically air-jet vortex’s related problems in enterprises’ operating over the last year by highlighting the breakpoint that the technology’s development in industry. By now, the group’s finished the relevant data accumulation, which has laid a good foundation for future strategy research and obtained certain results. The main contents of this article are as follows:(1) Analysis of air-jet vortex’s production costCombined with the production of cotton spinning enterprises, the factor analysis is conducted on production cost between air-jet vortex and ring spinning, mainly focusing on floor area, productive power and labor cost per ton with the pre-selected process and equipment. The results show that: compared with the same capacity of ring spinning, air-jet vortex can reduce about40%of floor area,30%of productive power,75%of labor cost per ton.(2) Techno-economic analysis of air-jet vortexThe techno-economic analysis, which selects the30s viscose air-jet vortex yarn as the analysis object, is conducted from per-ton cost and economic benefit. The results show that: the highest per-ton cost of air-jet vortex yarn, excluding raw material, is electricity cost, which is followed by depreciation cost and labor cost; air-jet vortex has a payback period of4years, a return on investment of5.41%, an internal rate of return of16%, which shows the economic rationality of investment in air-jet vortex; economic benefit is barely influenced by the electricity and labor cost, which shows a high investment safety, and sensitive to yarn’s sales volume and processing price.(3) Empirical analysis of air-jet vortex enterprisesThe empirical analysis of production cost’s factor and net economic benefit leads to the relationships between air-jet vortex and cotton spinning enterprises’ technological progress, after which industry’s future trends are forecast. The results show:compared with ring spinning, air-jet vortex’s electricity cost and labor cost are the most important factors in production cost; the large-scale-production enterprises and color spinning enterprises have more advantage in economic benefit, when compared in30s yarn market.In summary, this article mainly aims to research factors influencing air-jet vortex’s production cost compared to ring spinning, to analyze the30s yarn market by technological economics, and to discusses the relationships between air-jet vortex and cotton spinning enterprises’ technological progress after empirical analysis, which finally comes to conclusion that "air-jet vortex plays a positive role in cotton spinning enterprises’ technological progress from30s-40s and will grow to be the main trend in coastal areas".
