With the increasing of sun protection consciousness, sun-protective clothing has developed rapidly and become a new sort of garment in recent years. This paper is aimed at the present problems of sun-protective clothing market, such as sunscreen effect is not up to standard, style is not pretty and wearing comfort is poor.Firstly, the questionnaire survey is carried out to explore consumer’s cognition and requirements of sun-protective clothing. There were180questionnaires distributed. The survey shows female consumers have strong demand to prevent bask in summer, but not satisfied with the clothing styles, sunscreen effect and the price of the present sun-protective clothing. The sun-protective demand of consumers for season, parts of the body, as well as the demand preference for styles, fabrics and colors of sun protective clothing are analyzed. The research of sun-protective clothing in physical stores and online stores shows that sun-protective clothing are mainly sold in online stores, most are made by nylon taffeta or polyester pongee, lacking of UV index sign, sunscreen effect and wearing comfort are poor.Secondly, performance of the typical sun-protective samples and fabrics on the market are tested, including anti-ultraviolet, moisture permeability and permeability.10pieces of sun-protective clothing from the researched styles are selected to test the UPF and ultraviolet transmittance, only4pieces are up to the standard---GB/T18830-2009"Textiles-Evaluation for solar ultraviolet radiation protective properties". We collected24kinds of anti-ultraviolet fabrics and tested them about anti-ultraviolet, moisture permeability and permeability. On the basis of the fabric test experiment, two kinds of fabrics with better combination property are screened out to used in subsequent sample dress experiment.Finally, the paper choose three typical occasions with high sun-protective demand from the leisure life, they are cycling, vehicle driving and leisure shopping. Then the sun-protective functional clothing design experiments are carried out. Personal interview are conducted to understand their wearing needs for each occasion. Wearing environment and wearing motion are analyzed. On that basis, this paper designed3pieces of cycling sun-protective clothing,3pieces of vehicle driving sun-protective clothing and5pieces of leisure shopping sun-protective clothing, completed the style design and structure design. We also conducted grey cloth sample experiment, sunscreen fabric sample experiment and real try experiment with these11pieces of clothes. The result of fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is good.On the basis of sun-protective clothing styles research and sunscreen fabric testing research, the paper conducted sun-protective clothing design experiment for typical leisure life occasions. The paper explores the fashion design, structure design and fabric screening of sun-protective clothing, lays the foundation for subsequent similar research and provides a reference for same kind of clothes design.
