Rosin is esterified by glycol and becomes linear rison polyester. The esterification reactionwas made under simple calefaction and microwave irradiation and we can get the two bestmethods. The two kinds of producions are applied under the neutral sizing condition as sizingagent and we can get two optimum sizing conditions.When rison is esterified in N2under simple calefaction, the highest temperature is210℃, andthe heating time is11hours, and the heating curve should like a ladder. As the activator, in thesame time SnCl2could stop oxidization. The charge of SnCl2is0.4%. The alcohol-acid ratiois1.15. Under this condition, rosin polyester can be prevented from oxidization and becomessandy beige. The acid number is low a little and is63mg/g. When rison is esterified in N2under microwave irradiation, the power of microwave oven is600W and the heating time is80min. ZnO is the activator and the charge of ZnO is0.8%. hydroxymethyl sulfonic acid insodium is the antioxidant and the charge is1.0%. The alcohol-acid ratio is1.15. Under thiscondition, rosin polyester can be prevented from oxidization and becomes sandy beige. Theacid number is much lower and is25mg/g.The single emulsifier can not basically satisfy the emulsification of rosin ester. Nonionicemulsifier OP-10is mixed with cationic emulsifier made by oneself and works together. Theweight ratio is1:1. The charge of the new mixed emulsifier is10%. Cationic starch whosecharge is3%is mixed with CPAM whose charge is0.5%as emulsifier assistant. Under thiscondition we can get steady fluorescent milk-white rosin ester emulsion. The emulsifiercouldn’t influence the application of the rosin ester emulsion too much. Three shares rosinester made in microwave is mixed with two shares rosin, and the mixed sizing agent canbecome better emulsion. At last, the sizing agent would be made into cationic emulsion.Through the experiment, for rosin ester made under simple calefaction, the optimumreagent blend ratio as follows: the charge of Al2(SO43is2.0%, and the charge of the sizingagent is1.5%, and the charge of CPAM is0.04%, and pH number is6.5, and the method isinverse sizing, and the charge of GCC is20%, and curing time is2.5h under105℃, and40%of the total puple is reed puple, and60%of the total puple is wood puple, and sizing degree is90s.For rosin ester made in microwave,the optimum reagent blend ratio as follows: the charge of Al2(SO43is2.0%, and the charge of the sizing agent is1.5%, and the charge of CPAM is0.04%, and pH number is7.0, and the method is inverse sizing, and the charge of GCC is20%,and curing time is3h under105℃, and40%of the total puple is reed puple, and60%of thetotal puple is wood puple, and sizing degree is74s.when three shares rosin ester made inmicrowave is mixed with two shares rosin, the sizing degree increases to102s.Microwave heating is a good method in synthesizing rosin ester. The time in microwave ismuch shorter than in simple heating. Esterifying degree is bigger. When pure rosin ester ismixed with some rosin, the effect of the sizing agent is better.
