Glass coating is widely used in the ornamenting and coating protection on glass andglass decorations. Along with the environmental protection consciousness enhancing, peoplepay great attention on developing low VOC water-borne glass coatings. But duing to the pooradhesion and water resistance, currently, it is difficult for waterborne acrylic ester coatingsused on glass surface. In addition, because of the influence of energy crisis, reducing energyconsumption of glass in buildings becomes an important link in energy saving of building. And using glass coating can reduce energy consumption to save energy. Preparing glasscoatings with good adhesion and water resistance and having the property of reducing theglass energy consumption becomes the research focus in glass coating. In this paper, semi-continuous seed emulsion polymerization associated with pre-emulsification process was used for preparing acrylate emulsion. When the reactiontemperature is80℃, the mechanical rabble speed is200240rpm, and the reaction time is3.5h, the stability of acrylate emulsion is good. The influences of other factors including thecontent of the emulsifier, the initiator APS, NaHCO3, AA, HEA, A-151, A-171, and ATO, andthe ratio of soft/hard monomer, MMA/St, and n(curing agent303)/n(-OH), etal. on thestability of acrylate emulsion and the the performance of coatings had been investigated inthis paper. The results show that when the conent of emulsifier, initiator, NaHCO3, AA, HEA,A-151and ATO was respectively0.90%,0.45%,0.3%,0.5%,10%,5%, and0.5%, thestability of polymer latexes was good. And the best performance of emulsion and coatingswere obtained under the following conditions: the ratio of soft/hard monomer1:2, MMA/St1:1, and n(curing agent303)/n(-OH)2:1, the curing temperature120℃, and the the curingtime2h.
