This paper aims to improve the separation of fine solid particles in mini-hydrocyclone by means of changing the shape and size of mini-hydrocyclone inlet. To meet the inlet requirements, this research effectively improve the separation efficiency of the same hydrocyclone, and satisfy the processing requirement of fine solid particles. The research object of this paper is five different aspect ratio inlet mini-hydrocyclones with the same cross-sectional area. Study the continuous phase flow field, pressure distribution and dispersed phase flow in the different mini-hydrocyclones. To explore the impact of inlet sizes and flow rates on the flow field, separation performance and tangential speed index n. Design the relevant experimental apparatus, test and verify the veracity of simulation data use experiment. Determine the best inlet size of mini-hydrocyclone, the main conclusions as follows:1, At the same radial position, different mini-hydrocyclones have different tangential speed index n. The value of n from high to low is:1:3>1:2>2:3>1:4>1:1. The "free level" of fluid in five different mini-hydrocyclones reduced successively. The greater n, the higher separation efficiency.2, In a certain range of inlet aspect ratio, the long and narrow inlet is conducive to the separation of mini-hydrocyclone. When the inlet aspect ratio is1:3, the separation efficiency is the highest.3, The tangential velocity distribution accords with the quasi free vortex rules; The value of radial velocity is inversely proportional to the radius, speed value is much smaller than the other two speeds, radial velocity is shown that velocity amplitude is almost the same at the left and right sides, but the direction is opposite; The axial velocity are consistent with the rule that outer vortex speed adown, inner vortex speed upturned.
