With the ever increasingly serious energy shortage and environmental pollution, research, exploration and development of new alternative fuel oil is an important approach to alleviate the future energy and environmental problems. Fuel oil mixed with water is an effective mean to reduce fuel consumption and improve the emission of pollutants. Micro-emulsion diesel oil, as a kind of new fuel able to lower fuel consumption and at the same time solve the pollutant discharge problem, has got extensive attention and enormous research values.In the paper, we introduce the preparation of two novel micro-emulsifiers to form micro-emulsion oil. Utilizing the reaction product of oleic acid and ethanolamine and the remaining oleic acid as emulsifiers, the traditional alcohol was replaced by ether TX-3or ether MOA-3as auxiliary emulsifier. The ethers were then mixed with certain proportion to be numbered as micro-emulsifier4and micro-emulsifier6, respectively. Micro emulsified diesel oil prepared with appropriate mixture of the two kinds of new micro-emulsifiers, diesel and water remains clear and homogeneous, and the new fuel enjoys superior open stability compared with0#diesel oil.We also examine the factors that influence the preparation of micro-emulsified oil, including moisture content, emulsifier content and the stirring speed, mode and so on. Experimental results show that the amount of water shouldn’t be higher than30%, emulsifier content should be controlled at about20%, and stirring speeds have no effect on the stability of the micro-emulsified oil, but to speed up the formation of micro-emulision and its initial viscosity, preferably speed should be controlled between400and500r·min-1. When prepare micro-emulsified oil by ultrasonic, ultrasonic time has no impact on the stability of the micro-emulision oil, but influences its viscosity; while ultrasonic frequency had no significant effect on the stability and viscosity of micro-emulsified oil.The measurement, analyses and comparison of the physical and chemical properties of the micro emulsion diesel prepared by the new micro-emulsifier and traditional compound emulsifier were conducted, such as their stability, including incubation time, water resistance, oil solubility, high and low temperature storage and particle size, and other properties as flash point, kinematic viscosity, density, heat of combustion. The results indicate that the micro emulsion diesel prepared by the new micro-emulsifier possesses high stability and oil-water separation phenomenon didn’t happen if left to stand for six months. In comparison, the micro emulsion diesel prepared with the traditional compound emulsifier is not so stable. Furthermore, the density of the newly-prepared micro emulsion diesel is in the range between 0.839g/m3and0.845g/m3, which is in accordance with the standard density of automotive diesel oil. Flash points are also in accordance with the standard of national automotive diesel. Their kinematic viscosity values are between8and13, only a little higher than the national standard requirements, and further research is needed.
