In the machining process, the fixture is an important factor of production efficiency andproduct quality. Based on the fixture of principle experiment for hobbing face gear byY3150E, the paper puts forward improvement to solve the problem that metal face gear cannot be hobbed on this machine, and finally complete the processing of metal face gear.Firstly, the cutting force of hobbing face gear is analysed. According to the hobbingmethods, the spatial coordinate is established and based on the hobbing principle, the theoryformula are deduced; With MATLAB and empirical formula, the influence of the cuttingparameters on the hobbing force is analyzed.Secondly, the force analysis of the original fixture and the improved design have beenfinished. The finite element analysis for the three dimensional model of fixture is done byWorkbench, and the strain and stress distribution are obtained under different hobbing force;the improvement scheme is set up according to analysis result; the natural frequency of theimproved fixture is found through modal analysis.Then, based on Y3150E hobbing machine, the face gear is finished hobbing after thehobbing parameters are setted.Finally, the face gear interference case is checked by motion simulation, while theengaging experiments and contact pattern detection are made for face gears, and suggestionsare provided through the analysis results of hobbing face gear experiment.In summary, the paper completes improvement based on the original fixture and realizesthe processing of metal face gear on Y3150E hobbing machine.
