Parallel machine tool, also called parallel structure machine or virtual axis machine tool, is the product of the combination of modern CNC technology and parallel robotics. It is used to process complex surfaces and complex parts. With the rapid development of industry, all walks of life are using the machine tools to process the mechanical products. The requirements for a one-time processing of complex parts and the high accuracy of product processing not only make the research of the machine tool hot and popular, but also widen its application and mature its technology more and more.With the Two DOF Parallel Machine Tool as the object, this paper uses ANSYS for the finite element analysis of its mechanical structure and ADAMS for the kinematics analysis and dynamics analysis of its parallel mechanism.The Parallel Machine Tool is mainly composed of the parallel mechanism, the spindle and the machine bed. First, this paper applies the3D software Solidworks2010to model the turn-grinding parallel machine tool, and then imports the modeling to ANSYS and ADAMS separately to do the structural analysis as well as the kinematics analysis and dynamics analysis of the parallel mechanism. The main content are shown as follows:(1) Study on the structure characteristics of Parallel Machine Tool, refine the structures of various components of Parallel Machine Tool, and set up solid machine models.(2) Use the finite element software ANSYS12.0Workbench to carry out the static analysis of the key part of machine tool—parallel mechanism and obtain the stress as well as the varying regularity under the condition that the parallel mechanism is bearing cutting force, which provides an important basis for the further structural improvement.(3) Use the finite element software to analyze the dynamic behavior of the machine tool as well as the spindle and get their vibration characteristics, which provides important data for the optimization of machine tool in later design. (4) Use ADAMS to analyze the kinematic characteristics of parallel grinding machine tools, carry out the forward and inverse kinematical analyses of machine tool and get the variation rule of the motion of parallel mechanism, which lays the foundation for further analysis.(5) Analyze the dynamic characteristics of machine tool, and get the driving force needed by the driving motor of parallel mechanism as well as its changing rules, which provides the reference for the selection of motor type in the process of machine tool design.
