The working face strengthening coating of machine clip blade was processed byNd:YAG laser, the improvement of wear resistance improved the cutting performanceand service life of the blade. The experiment research and theoretical analysis optimizedthe process parameters and improved the quality of the blade coating. Details are asfollows:(1) The Process of Machine clip blade coating prepared by Laser was formulatedfrom Laser processing method, Coating material, material adding, and the Laserscanning path planning.(2) A set of complete device of Machine clip blade coating prepared by Laser wasdesigned. The device achieved the function of rotary table positioning, powderautomatic coating and laser coating preparation. The device,which realized automaticprocessing and manual processing, is driven by stepper motors, controlled by S7-200PLC and programed with Step7-Micro/Win.(3) The blade coating was prepared by changing pulse current, scanning speed,defocusing amount, pulse width and pulse frequency, respectively. The single factorexperiment was conducted on X5032A vertical milling machine. The influences of allfactors were obtained. The more obvious influence factors to the quality of bladecoating were pulse current, scanning speed and defocusing amount, which were selectedfor orthogonal test. The best process parameters combination was: I=75A, v=80mm/min,L=14mm, ti=0.5ms and f=60Hz.(4) The blade coating was prepared with the best process parameters, and the wearresistance experiment was conducted with no coating blade. The results show that thewear resistance of coating blade was improved obviously, and the service life wasnearly doubled. The phase composition, microstructure, and wear morphology weredetected by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and EDS. The resultindicates that the main phases of the coating were C0.3N0.7Ti and WN. The coating wasuniform and compact, without obvious flaws of cracks. The coating was Metallurgicalbonding with matrix and there was no obvious crack after wearing.
