Polysilane is a polymer with the main chain made up of silicon. Because of theelectronegativity of silicon atoms in the main chain and empty3d orbit, polysilanehas a large σ-electron conjugated system similar to π-electron conjugated system,which makes it an extremely special and promising functional material, and ithas aroused extensive interest in research field. In recent years, the research incarbon nanotubes and nano materials goes deeper and deeper. As a result, theapplication prospect shows up constantly. It will be a new era in the application ofcarbon nanotubes if polysilane and carbon nanotubes are combined organically tosolve the problem of dispersion of carbon nanotubesIn this paper first two kinds of polysilanes, including polysilane chain andbranched polysilane, were synthesized successfully through Wurtz condensation,besides, the influence of the reaction solvent, reaction time, monomer ratio, droppingrate, ultrasound and additives on the reaction was investigated.Carbon nanotubes/polysilane composite materials were prepared via ultrasonicblending, during the synthesis process, the purified carbon nanotubes were blendedwith two kinds of polysilane according to the different proportions and differentconditions. The principle to choose suitable solvent was that it could dissolvepolysilane or diffuse carbon nanotubes better. Meanwhile, the dispersion of carbonnanotubes was significantly improved because of the recombination of carbonnanotubes and polysilane, at last carbon nanotubes/branched polysilanes compositematerials were added to styrene solution and carbon nanotubes-branchedpolysilanes-polystyrene composites were synthesized using situ polymerization ofstyrene. In addition, the synthesized composites were characterized and theirperformance was investigated, including electrical properties, mechanical properties,thermal properties, etc. The performance of the synthesized composite materials has been greatly improved by characterizing, such as thermal properties, conductivity,impact resistance and degree of polymerization.
