The deep-hole processing technology is an important part in manufacturing, with thedevelopment of equipment manufacturing technology in our country, the demand fordeep-hole processing equipment is also growing. And the BTA as the main tool of the deephole processing, its complex geometry structure complicate the process of drilling. Ifimproper cutting parameters are selected, it will produce the serious consequences such asexcessive drilling force, drill pipe blockage and cutter tooth chipping. At the same time, it canalso affect the hole wall surface quality and dimensional accuracy. Therefore, this paper takesthe drilling system of BTA as the research object, has carried on the following research fromthe perspective of drilling force:At first this paper introduces the structure characteristics and working principle of BTAdrill, and analysis the stress state of BTA drill, combined with the structural characteristics ofthe drill and based on the theory of micro cutting tool, the mathematical model of BTAdrilling force is established. Secondly, this paper has calculated the axial force and torquewhen drilling45steel. The results have the basic agreement with the values provided by theliterature [3]. The correctness of the mathematical model is verified. Then we have analyzedmathematical model by numerical calculation software MATLAB, we get the curves ofdrilling force and torque, which are relate to the parameters such as postcornu, workingapproach angle, blade width and feed. The reasonable value range of parameters are analyzedand summarized. Again, the drill pipe is equivalent to simply supported beam, and it suffersthe combination of bending and twisting deformation, we have established the mechanicsmodel and conducted the strength check. Finally, the drill pipe buckling analysis were carried out under different working conditions using finite element analysis software UG NX8.0, it isconcluded that the critical buckling load and its change trend of drill pipe.In this paper, we provide certain theory reference for the prediction of drilling force ofthe BTA drilling system, also provide theoretical basis for the structure optimization designand the selection of machining parameters of the BTA drill.
