Gunpowder is the main fuel when a rocket is launching. Its performance directly affectsthe launching result. As one of key performance indexes, the moisture content of gunpowdermust be contained within a certain range during the production and preservation process, forthe excessive moisture of gunpowder would properly result in a failing rocket launching, andconsequently bring in huge economical loss. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the moistureof gunpowder in real time during the production. However, the existing devices which areused to detect the moisture content of the gunpowder can not meet the requirements of onlineproduction detection. Therefore, to work out a special device which is able to quickly andaccurately detect the moisture of gunpowder on real time is very meaningful. Based on theabove, the gunpowder moisture online testing system is studied in this paper. This study isalso to meet the actual production requirement of a chemical plant, and the online moisturetesting with high speed and accuracy is asked by them. The specific research contents and theresults are listed as following:1. Reading relative literatures (Chinese and foreign), comparing the advantages anddefects of different moisture testing methods. Considering the actual application requirementof this research, the capacitance method for moisture content testing was applied in thisresearch, because of its simple structure and low cost.2. To meet the testing accuracy requirement, the capacitive sensor and alternatingself-balanced bridge circuit were designed. On addition, the sensor structure was optimized.3. The capacitance detection circuit was designed according to the measurementsrequirements. Since the testing accuracy is also influenced by the temperature, humidity andthe bulk density of the material, etc. the temperature detection, humidity sensor detectioncircuit and the weighting sensor detection circuits were added to the system. In this way theaccuracy and stability of the system were enhanced. 4. Based on lots of cereal and gunpowder material experiments, a multi-parametersmathematical modeling was bounded to model the moisture testing, and the measurementerrors were analyzed.5. A user-friendly interface was designed, which can detect the moisture contents ofgunpowder quickly and accurately.
