The Tool Pre-Setting Instrument is an important tool parameters measurement deviceassisted machining, in the rapid development of modern industry the Tool Pre-SettingInstrument played an important role to improve production efficiency and processingprecision. But domestic product research and development center of gravity mainlyconcentrated in the cutting tool geometry parameter measurement module, researching onautomatic selection function knife spectrum image is still not deep enough, most of thedomestic products is still using artificial manually to recognize the knife spectrum image,reduce the efficiency of measurement greatly. In order to solve this problem this paperstudied the automatic recognition of the knife spectrum with the image retrieval technologybased on shape feature, the specific work is as follows:Detailed analysis the domestic and foreign development present situation and the keytechnology of The Tool Pre-Setting Instrument and the key technology image retrievaltechnology based on shape feature, introducing the classification, algorithm, thecharacteristics and the application scope of the existing shape feature descriptor, finally,choose the most suitable algorithm to the tool and knife spectrum shape feature;Analyzed the principle of the classic Fourier descriptor algorithm, through the description ofthe knife spectrum image found that this algorithm will affect the image of phase informationwhile it does not determine the main direction of the shape feature, this paper proposed theimproved algorithm about the weakness;Compare with the two methods of image segmentation, analysis the advantages anddisadvantages of each algorithm and then determine the threshold segmentation method toextract image edge profile. Then carried out the experiment of the knives and knife spectrumimage, to verify the rationality of the improved algorithm, and compare with the before andafter the improvement algorithm on experiment, found that the description ability of the improved algorithm is superior to the traditional description algorithm, the description of thecharacteristics of shape accuracy is higher, to the different tools of retrieval experiments cangets the corresponding knife spectral images, improve the efficiency of the Tool Pre-SettingInstrument, finally design and develop a image retrieval system of the knife spectrum.
