Tool Pre-Setting Instrument is the pre-matching equipment of CNC machine. The instrument is used in the pre-set of the cutting tool position in the numerical processing and real-time compensation of the cutting tool feed quantity during the processing.But domestic tool measurement system still use optical projection and the measurement is carried out by human sight,which brings much subjective error; at the same time,the measuring is time consuming,which could not reach the requirement of numerical machining and working centre.This paper carried on the overall design to system plan of the Tool Pre-Set Instrument first. The instrument system is divided into three big parts with the method of modular design: Mechanical and electrical system,optical system and software system, and carried on the concrete analysis and design to each part based on the technical specification and the design principle.Tool Pre-Setting Instrument at the core of the problem lies in accuracy, and the measurement of cutter parameter needs to ensure the measuring accuracy. Therefore this paper is issued from the analysis of the accuracy of the design, and gradually finds the source of error, carrying on error-compensation amendments to improve the measuring accuracy of equipment.This paper mainly based on the measure principle and the representative configuration of the present Tool Pre-Set Instrument. Beginning from the researching about entire error model of the overall system,the relations between the subsystem precision were analyzed. Each error source to the influence degree and the size of the final survey precision was discussed,thus an effective theory basis was provided for the entire instrument precision match design. It confirmed the error by the experimental results, and provided the error compensation in following processing that guarantee the overall precision of the instrument.
