Underground coal mining is a dangerous task, in which mineral accidents happen frequently and huge casualties and property loss are caused. Nowadays, in China miners are mostly equipped with simple functional helmets, lacking of abilities of perception of ambient environment and mobile communication. It is evident that a real-time monitoring for mineral environment without blind spots and a portable mobile communication system play an important role in hazard warning, production scheduling and disaster rescue. Therefore, nation setups863project of "the key technology of mine Internet of Things and research of measuring and monitoring equipment". Its sub-project is "mineral multi-functional smart helmet", aimed at designing a novel miner helmet using in mine Internet of Things. The smart helmet has functions of lighting, protection, mobile monitoring and communication. In the thesis, based on the architecture of mine Internet of Things, software architecture of smart helmet and integrated solution of software architecture are proposed. The architecture includes two components--client and management software. The client software is running on the smart helmet’s Android systems, including functions of account login, two-sides voice talk, instantaneous message, text-to-speech, acquirement of multiple environment parameters and hazard warnings. The management software is running on the PC in monitoring and controlling center on the ground. It takes responsibilities of managing smart helmets, call center, instantaneous message, handling and saving smart helmet’s data, query and management of history records. The solution of whole software architecture uses Session Initiation Protocol as its core signaling control protocol and employs open source PJSIP as an implementation of SIP. The solution is easy-realized, extensible and compatible.Researches on mine Internet of Things began a hot topic recently. Some researches on estimation of voice and video’s quality of service in mine Internet of Thinghs were done in this thesis. Voice compressed with different codecs is transmitted over mobile ad hoc network in underground mines. The estimation of its quality of service is simulated though a tool Network Simulator2. The result is that G.723is the most suitable for voice compression in underground mines. For H.264standard, a hybrid blockiness metric is proposed, which takes both the characteristics of human visual systems and quantification parameter in compression domain into consideration. The experimental result shows that it agrees well with common objective metrics.
