Urbanization is a result of economic development of a country, but also is one of the themes of economic development around the world in the21st century. In recent years, the problems such as the traditional urbanization pursue the urban expansion one-sidedly, the agricultural laborers transfer to urban but difficult to melt into it, urban land use extensive inefficient, and the "urban disease" are becoming more and more serious. People-oriented, ecological livable, balance urban and rural and harmonious principles are the characteristics of Chinese new urbanization. Wuhan which is the megacity of central China has a rocketed economic development in recent years. In2007, Wuhan, the core of Wuhan metropolitan area, is approved as experimental area of two-oriented society by the State Council. And the ecological protection and construction of Wuhan has been attached equal importance to the social economic development. The Wuhan new urban districts have relatively low level but tremendous development potential in economic and social level. So they will be the main areas of Wuhan to advance urbanization in the future. Moreover, presenting the current ecological environment and clarifying ecological problems of the Wuhan new urban districts is very important for their urban construction. On the basis of describing the new concepts of urbanization, this paper qualitatively analyzes the current ecological environment of Huangpi, Xinzhou, Caidian, East and West Lakes, Jiangxia and Hannan District of Wuhan. Then, the index system on the pressure-state-response model is established to evaluate the ecological current status according the PSR model. The pressure, state, response and overall levels of6Wuhan new urban districts were studied based on the index system. And the ecological healthy level and the ecological development route of these districts are systematically discussed. These researches could provide guidance for the urbanization of Wuhan new directions.According to the study, we draw the following conclusions:(1) From ecological pressure perspective, the stress levels in descending order are Hannan, Huangpi, Caidian, Jiangxia, East and West Lakes and Xinzhou District. There is little difference among these districts’stress level except for Xinzhou District which has the minimum ecological stress.(2) From the ecological state perspective, the values of state in descending order are Huangpi, Xinzhou, Jiangxia, Caidian, Hannan and East and West Lakes District. The Huangpi District has the optimal ecological state value and be much higher than other districts. There is little difference among the other districts’ state values and their values are all located between0and0.1.(3) From the ecological respond perspective, the responsive levels in descending order are Xinzhou, Hannan, East and West Lakes, Caidian, Huangpi, and Jiangxia District. The higher ones are Xinzhou and Hannan District and the lower one is Jiangxia District.(4) On the comprehensive level of ecological environment, the worst condition districts are the East and West Lakes and Jiangxia District. The unhealthy one is Caidian District and the middle ones are Hannan and Xinzhou District. The Huangpi District is the healthiest district among all the districts.
