The Theory Of Leiss About Domination Of Nature And Enlightenment Of The Construction Of Ecological Civilization Of Contemporary China

Since the middle of the20th century, the science and technology developed rapidly, and the human’s ability to control nature was the strongest by far. Meanwhile, the relationship between human and nature became increasingly nervous. Human beings realized the significant role of natural environment, and began to deeply rethink the influence to nature because of their own behavior. The Ecological Marxism was born at that moment. The main research object of this study is the theory about domination of nature put forward by William Leiss, who was the representative figure of the Ecological Marxism in the80s. In this paper, it shows thoughts and theoretical significance that relate to the theory about domination of nature, and probes into its enlightenment to contemporary Chinese ecological civilization construction. The purpose of this paper is to regard the theory of Leiss about domination of nature dialectically, and seek out the beneficial revelation to Chinese ecological civilization construction in the contemporary, also, accept the experience and learn the lesson, then create a new situation of the ecological civilization construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.There are six parts in this paper, in the1st part, it presents research background, the overseas and domestic research status, and the research methods, etc. The2nd part combs and summaries the origin of the theory of Leiss about domination of nature through four aspects called control of natural conception in Western traditional theory, the evolution of western modern control of nature conception, the nature conception of practical humanization of Marxist, and the Frankfurt school’s theory of social criticism. In the following part, the basic content of the theory of Leiss about domination of nature is stated, including evolution of the relationship of mankind and nature--from controlling nature to controlling people, then to liberating nature. Besides, it shows the solution methods to solve the Leiss’s ecological crisis. Next, the theoretical contribution and limitation of the theory of Leiss about domination of nature is discussed dialectically. In the5th part, it expounds the enlightenment which the theory of Leiss about domination of nature contributes to the contemporary Chinese ecological civilization construction in terms of ideology, the harmonious development of man and nature,set up the correct view of science and technology, and improve the ability of ecological ethics. The final part is the conclusion.
