Artemisia argyi L, a kind of natural Asteraceae herbs, is widely distributed in China.Due to its plentiful chemical compositions with physiological activity, it have greatpotential value in food and drug fields. To prepare Artemisia argyi solution, ethanolextraction method was used, and the solution mainly contained flavonoids, eudesmane, terpineol and trace elements. Current researches have proven that eudesmane and terpineolboth have amazing aversion activities to mosquitoes. Meanwhile, the fragrant smell alsocould keep mosquitoes away. what’s more, they exbited harmless to human body andenvironment. This project studied the synthesis of mosquito repellent regulated byArtemisia argyi L, and based on that, the fabrication of functional textiles which haveanti-mosquito effect was also exploited. In the present study, we firstly prepared the Artemisia argyi L solution by usingnatural pharmaceutical ethanol extraction method. In order to improve its concentration forfurther applications, the rotary evaporator was used, and the presence of main activecompositons we also confirmed by Liquid Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer(LCMS).Then, using Artemisia argyi L extraction as the raw materials, two differentpreparation methods were employed to fabricate mosquito repellents.1. cyclodextrin-Artemisia argyi L inclusion complexes was fabricated by using cyclodextrin as the hostmolecules. FTIR result showed that the strong chemical bonds were formed between them.Meanwhile, scanning electron microscope proved they were stable microparticels.2.Artemisia argyi L emulsion were made by phase-inversion method. we alsoanalyzed the technology parameters influencing the size and its distribution of emulsionparticles and tested their microstructures by scanning electron microscope. The procedureswere just as follows, Artemisia argyi L solution(18%) was blended into emulsifier(3%) andstirred for8min, the HLB values of solutions were then adjusted to8min.Finally, the functional textiles were made by dip-padding treatment. Compared withthe textiles prior to treatment, the functional textiles had binded with mosquito repellents, evidenced by whiteness, mass, FTIR and SEM images. The mosquito test result showed that it could effectively repel against mosquitoes, and still had some repellent effect after15washing.In summory, Artemisia argyi L extraction contained natural compositions withaversion activities to mosquitoes, implying their great potential in fabricating mosquitorepellents. we then prepared cyclodextrin-Artemisia argyi L inclusion complexes andArtemisia argyi L emulsion using two simple but effective methods. After the dip-paddingtreatment, the functional textiles with mosquito repellents exhibited amazing aversioneffect, which expanded the application ofArtemisia argyi L.
