This paper mainly studied Reaction blending of PA6with Maleic Anhydride Copolymer and Toughening of Nylon-6with Epoxy-Functionalized Ethylene-propylene-diene Rubber.A series of maleic anhydride copolymer were melt blended with polyamide6(PA6) in Haake rheometer. Influence of copolymer concentration on rheological properties of blends and crystallization of PA6were investigated. The blends of copolymer and PA6showed higher balanced torque than either of the component, which comfirmed the chemical reaction between PA6and copolymer. With the add of modifier content, the balanced torque value of blends increased gradually. A maximun torque value of blends was oberved with the increment of copolymer. And the torque value decreased with excessive introduction of copolymer. Different maximun torque value were observed for different copolymer at different copolymer concentration. The crystallinity of PA6in blends decreased with the introduction of copolymer. The type and concentration of different copolymer showed different effect on the crystallization of PA6.Ethylene-propylene-diene Rubber(EPDM) were grafted with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) by reactive blending to prepare EPDM-g-GMA, and use it to toughening PA6. It is mainly study the effects of EPDM-g-GMA on the rheological behavior, thermal properties and morphology of blends at first, the grafting reaction was confirmed by FTIR spectra. Then the epoxy-functionalized EPDM was blended with PA6. Rheological behavior, thermal properties and morphology of PA6. The ternary blend EPDM-g-GMA blends were investigated in detail. The results showed that the compatibility between PA6and EPDM was improved by the introduction of GMA by SEM. And the size of dispersed phase was decreased by the introduction of EPDM or EPDM-g-GMA. The crystallinity of PA6was decreased by DSC. The Izod impact and tensile test showed the Izod notched impact strength of blends was improved. And the tensile strength of the blends was improved simultaneously.Though the blends of PA6/EPDM/EPDM-g-GMA, the compatibility between PA6and EPDM was improved by compatibilization reaction between PA6and EPDM-g-GMA. EDPM was distributed more and more homogeneously in PA6matrix with the increasing content of EPDM-g-GMA. The Izod notched impact strength of blends was dramatically improved and the crystallinity of PA6was decreased. When the weight ratio of PA6/EPDM/EPDM-g-GMA was80/15/5, the thenotched impact strength reached maximum of the termary blends.
