Energy storage is greatly demanded by the national strategy, therefore large-scale underground salt rock storage carves which are widely used for its good sealability and safety performance have been begun to build. Research findings achieved by the foreign research scholars can not be used directly in the salt rock storage construction in China, because there are great differences between China and the other countries in the geological conditions. Also, Therefore, combining with the actual situation of China’s salt rock underground reserves, it has great significance to research on multi-factor optimization of salt rock storage group and analysis the time-variant system reliability of salt rock storage group. Some useful conclusions were finally obtained, which could provide scientific basis and technical support for the storage layout, construction and safety operation.Based on the principle of orthogonal experimental design, system science, reliability theory and stochastic mechanics, this article relies on the national key basic research and development program. Jintan salt rock storage is studied as engineering background. Combining the actual salt rock layer and geological conditions in our country, multi-factor optimization of underground salt rock storage group and time-variant system reliability analysis of underground salt rock storage group with multiple failure modes during operation period is studied. The main contents are as follows:1. Based on the principle of orthogonal experimental design, three main optimizable factors existing in the planning and design phase are selected to be studied. The influence degree of the three factors and the optimal storage group form are obtained at last.2. According to the system science and reliability mathematics theory and based on the working and structure characteristics, the failure of storage group is defined and the multiple failure of the storage group is analyzed. The system reliability mode of underground salt rock storage group is built.3. Based on the theory of stochastic mechanics and reliability mathematics, the time-variant system reliability of storage group during operation period in different working conditions is analyzed and the reliability variation of storage group and its elements is obtained.
