Schiff base and its coordination compounds are widely used in pharmacon, catalysis, bio-activity and functional materials. In this article, di-schiff base, benzimidazoles, usymmetrical di-schiff bases and corresponding compounds arediscussed, in addition, salicy-schiff base is picked up to explore its antimicrobialactivity. In the section of synthesis and its coordination compounds, many newcompounds concerning mono-schiffbases,usymmetrical schiffbases, benzimidazolesand their coordination compounds are obtained. The initial ingredients, phenols andbenzoylchloride with a variety of substituents, are combined to generate a diversity ofesters, which subsequently undergoes Fries rearrangement in order to yieldcorresponding ketones; Afterwards, five aldehydes (thiophene-methanal, vanillin, salicylal, benzaidehyde and p-hydroxy benzaldehyde), reacted with mono-schiff basegive di-schiff bases. Eventually, compounds reaction between the di-schiff base ofsalicylal and five transition mental (Cu,Mn,Zn,Co,Ni) take place and newcoordination compounds are obtained. In the synthesis of di-schiff bases, a portion ofcompounds undergo rearrangement, and simultaneously; a kind of newbenzimidazoles is formed. In the exploration of antimicrobial activity regarding the coordinationcompounds, the antibiotic activity is determined by means of measuring the diameterof bacterial inhibition cycle. It is detected in multiple controlled trials that compoundsof different concentrations always have much more powerful antibiotic activity thanthe ligands, and the principle element contributing to this may lie in the improvementof the electron’s shifting when relevant compounds come into being. Besides, only when the concentration is to some extent, do the di-schiff bases and compounds ofsalicylal show the antimicrobial activity on SA and E.coli, and the antimicrobialactivity takes on linear correlation with the concentrations of the compounds. The topantimicrobial activity is possessed by the Ni coordination compounds.
