Automated Mechanical Transmission (AMT) is composed primarily of mechanicaltransmission, actuator and electronic control system. AMT has the advantage of manualtransmission and automatic transmission with wide prospect of application. This paper isaimed at improved design of AMT clutch actuator. The main contributions are as follows:Firstly, this paper introduces the structure, working principle and domestic andforeign research present situation of AMT, and then, the principle and difficulty ofautomatic clutch control technology has been described.The existing problem of original AMT clutch actuator is analyzed in detail. Theimprovement has been proposed, and has carried on the detailed design. In order toverigy the feasibility of the improved mechanism, a test rig is set up.Model of planetary gear train is established by Pro/E and then is used in kinematicsand dynamics simulation by ADAMS. Through comparison with theoretical calculation,The effectiveness of the planetary gear transmission ratio is verified, gear mesh forcecurve is obtained that laid a solid foundation for further analysis.Gear tooth bending stress is obtained through the finite element analysis of planetarygear, through comparison of the calculation and result of analysis, the validity of theanalysis result is proven. Then nSoft software will be put into tooth root bending fatigueanalysis according to the results of the finite element analysis, life of the gear illustratesthe correctness of design.
