Infrared decoys is a low-cost but high-efficiency infrared countermeasuremeans, which has been widely used in modern warfare. To evaluate the decoys’interference effect correctly and effectively, has a guiding significance on the designand use of decoys. The traditional method to evaluate the interference-effect iscarried out by targeting experiment, which is high-cost, low-efficiency and has greatlimitations. The method by using hardware-in-loop simulation technology perfectlyovercomes these shortcomings, becoming the current research focus.This paper research on the hardware-in-loop(HIP) simulation technology fordecoys, analyze the the working environment of the decoys, establish the simulationmodel of the decoy interference characteristics using the finite element method, andset up the hardware-in-loop simulation system using the micromirror array as thecore device. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the mechanism and the operating status of the decoys are analyzed, theflow field of the decoys are solved accurately based on finite element theory. Thenthe changes of air resistance in the process of decoys sports movement and thedistribution of temperature field are studied in the paper, and the decoys movementcharacteristics and radiative properties of the finite element model are setted up,which provides a theoretical basis for the hardware-in-loop simulation.Secondly, the overall design program of the hardware-in-loop simulationsystem is planned. The system is designed with the principle of hierarchical design,which could be divided into three components: system simulation software,hardware platform based on the Industrial Personal Computer(IPC) and micromirrorarray driven equipment.Thirdly, design of the simulation system software and hardware are completed.The software system includes: the decoy-running simulation software module, datacommunications module, the IPC control module and the array controller drivermodule. The software implements the following functions: decoys dynamicsimulation image generating, simulation data transmission processing and thecontrol of the micromirror array. The system hardware includes: PXI bus platform,data communication interface module and the micromirror array driver module. Thehardware system could generate the thermal infrared image of decoys under thecontrol of the software.Finally, the hardware-in-loop simulation system is setted up, and the overalldebug for the system is run. To carry out the physical testing of the system, ahomemade micromirror-array is made. The test results show that the hardware- in-loop simulation system can operate normally, achieving the functioning asexpected.
