Study On The Evolution And Revelation Of The Theories About Ecological Urban Design In Contemporary Western Region

The ecological urban design as a discipline of promoting urban physicalenvironment towards ecological derection plays an important role on improving andcreating human settlement. The emergence of ecological urban design is notaccidental, but it has its internal logic and ideological basis. It means that the idealcity, organic evacuation theory, urban beautification thought, urban sociology, humanecology and Human settlements thoughts all laid the foundation for the generation ofecological urban design. In all ages, the behavior of human settlements constructionis the behavior of dealing with the relationship between people and naturalenvironment. The history of the development of ecological thoughts about urbanconstruction shows the transformation of the attitude of the person to nature. Namely,it changed from the respect to opposition and conquering, then to the harmonioussymbiosis. It also the screw process of the progress about human understanding,using and living together with the nature. It reflects the high-level coordinationbetween human and nature, and is not a simple regression and passive adaptation.Ecological urban design produces and develops in such a background conditions.The several decades from1950s and1960s are the golden age of developmentabout ecological urban design. As a result of all sorts of social science and naturalscience development, it makes the ability more strengthen about human treating,analyzing and solving problems. People have been studied extensively on theecological urban design driven by awakening ecological thoughts. Comprehensiveanalysis of numerous theories and opinions, it mainly presents three differenttheoretical types. They are the theories of paying attention to improve urban physicalenvironment, paying attention to analysis the environmental capacity and the theoriesof comprehensive thinking the coordinated development of artificial environmentand nature Throughout the several decades’ development, there are much extensionand improvement in the field of attention, thinking angle and support systems of thewestern ecological urban design theory. The reasons probed behind it are due to thechanging of related value dimension, such as the view of nature, the aesthetics, thesystem view, the technical point and the economic view. The technology as therepresentation of thoughts and theories presents some characteristics and trends, suchas design goal more specific, the principle and strategy clearer and more systematic. But because of the particularity and complexity of the study object and the stages ofstudy development, the index of urban ecology remains need to be clearer and moresystematic.Since the1980s urban design as a subject was introduced into China, thetheoretical research has been mostly referenced the western mature theory. So in theurban design developing along with ecology days, using for reference the westernmature theory is much necessary for promoting the development of ecological urbandesign. By including and analysis the related theory of western in modern times andcombined with the present development situation of our country, it can gets thefollowing four enlightenments. First, it is the interdisciplinary theory research.Second, the theory study is combined with broad spectrum and particularity. Third,the theory research and appropriate technology development are neck and neck.Fourth, the theory development and ecological civilization construction are hand inhand.
