The pile foundation should be designed to bear the vertical andlateral load, and the seismic performance of PHC pipe pile is very important in thebuilding. but only a very few studies have investigated the seismic performance ofPHC pile. The main objectives of this research are to evaluate seismic performanceand strength of PHC pile.In this paper, four PHC piles under low-cycle loading were tested to study thevariation of pile type and stirrup on the seismic performance and bearing capacity. The formulas of PHC pipe pile about bearing capacity were discussed. The nonlinearfinite element program ABAQUS was employed to perform numerical stimulations ofthe flexural performance of PHC piles. The main conclusions of this paper are asfollows: The cracking load and the ultimate load of AB-type pile are higher thanA-type pile. Decreasing of stirrup spacing and increasing of stirrup diameter is nothelpful to improve ultimate bearing capacity. Four PHC pipe piles behaved welldeformation restoring capacity. Elastic stiffness and elasto-plastic stiffness ofAB-type pile are greater than that of A-type pile. AB pipe pile tends to show the betterenergy dissipation capacity than A-type pile. Decreasing of stirrup spacing andincreasing of the stirrup diameter can improve the energy dissipation capacity to somedegree. The displacement ductility of AB-type pile is better than A-type pile, but it isnot improved with decreasing of stirrup spacing and increasing of stirrup diameter. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | PHC pipe pile, seismic performance, the pile type, the stirrupspacing, the stirrup diameter, ABAQUS, ductility | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
