Intelligent transportation system(ITS)apply advanced information technology、data communication transmission technology、electronic sensor technology、electroniccontrol technology and computer processing technology to the entire transportationmanagement system,so it establish a wide range, full orientation, real-time and accuratetransport and management system. Intelligent transportation system aims at abatingtraffic congestion, reducing traffic accident, and increasing road user’s convenience andcomfort.It represents the developmental orientation of roadway and traffic.This thesis studies emphatically on the traffic detector of intelligent transportationsystem. We designed the loop induction detector which overcome shortcoming of thesingle loop detection of speed measurement by using double loop detection technology.When vehicle goes through the loop, the traffic detectors gather the data of oscillationfrequency and complete classification of vehicle types by analyze the difference offrequency characteristics. The classification statistics of road vehicle can be obtained intime. The design of traffic detector provides a new thinking and method for intelligenttransportation system.This thesis describes theory model of loop detection technology and proofthetheory’s correctness and feasibility by application. It spends a minor time forvehicles go across single loop, while the system should response fast and accurately. So,this system makes use of STM32F103R8microprocessor with ARM Cortex-M3kernel,which have high-powered process ability and large storage space. Compared withfrequency measure method that is adopted by traditional detecting products, designalgorithm of the vehicle detector which refresh the reference frequency automaticallygreatly improve the stability and detection accuracy under poor working conditions.Then, the design of hardware and software of this system was given.The loop induction detector which is based on ARM and automatic refreshingfrequency reference algorithm, not only improve the detection accuracy, but alsoprovides a reliable foundation for applying to next practice.
