Reducing overheat problem due to the engine long time work effectively is veryimportant, reasonable designed water jacket not only enhance the working performance,and also prolong the product working lifetime by equalize the coolant water. However,the gasket in water jacket is the central part of the factor which effect the velocity,pressure and temperature field. Presently, few researches on influence of water holesdistributions to coolant-flow distribution are conducted, investigators mainly pay theirattentions to several kinds of water jacket CAE analysis and structure optimizationspecially. In order to study how the water jacket gasket’s water hole distributioninfluence the coolant water distribution in water jacket, the paper focus on a waterjacket study and hope to offer some conclusion for future water jacket design andoptimization. The main contains are proposed below:1) On the foundation of CFD control equations, the paper mentioned the basicmethod and steps of water jacket CFD analysis. What’s more, the paper introduce liquidphysical attributes, water movement mode and wall conditions in detail, and finallycurtained the main parameters related to CFD pre-conduction2) based on the relevant research, the paper simplified a kind of water jacketstructure and set up the CAE pre-calculate model, find the reason of negativecoolant-flow distribution by evaluating coolant-flow velocity field and press velocity.3) the paper offered8plans of water holes distributions which transferred fromsimple plan to correspondingly complex and mature plan, contrast and judge each plansunder certain special criterion, figure out the best plans considering velocity andpressure field.4) on the foundation of how different water holes distribution plans influence thecoolant-flow distribution, the paper conclude the relationships of water holedistributions and coolant-flow distribution, which may offer some reference for futureengine water jacket structure design and optimization.
