With the development of technology and the improvement of people’s livingstandards, the car gradually enters into people’s daily live. As one of the maintransportation tool in people’s daily life, the automobile industry has a history of morethan100years. In the internal-combustion engine powered automobile era, transmissionis already one of the important parts of the automobile, and now, the transmission is stillone of the important and indispensable parts of the automobile transmission system, andits working performance will directly affect the performance of automotive transmissionsystem. Therefore, attention paid to the noise and vibration of the automobiletransmission is of extraordinary significance in the entire automotive vibration andnoise reduction. Domestic and foreign each big car companies have begun to work withcar gearbox vibration noise levels increase, through a series of measures to create acomfortable indoor environment for drivers and passengers.This paper researches on gear noise and vibration reduction of2T101five-speedmanual transmission. Gear directional modification and transmission structureoptimization is used to optimize the transmission noise and vibration featurerespectively on the purpose of improving the overall operational performance of thetransmission. The main research contents are as follows:①This paper elucidates the mechanics causing gear vibration noise and methodsof tackling signals and analyzes the innate structure of transmission.②The generation of transmission error is deeply analyzed from theoreticalperspective and relevant calculation method is offered after building model. Meanwhile,order tracking theory is described in detail and results suggest it takes conspicuousadvantage in noise analysis and concrete application of order tracking is pointed out.③Romax software is used to analyze the influence of different modificationmethod on the generation of error transmission and explore the relationship betweengear modification and transmission error in details, on the basis of which the influenceof transmission error change on vibration and noise generation is further studied. Thenthis article finds an optimal and appropriate modification method of decreasing the geartransmission error of tested transmission.④Vibration and noise test of2T101five-speed manual transmission is taken asan example. Detailed comparison is drawn on the noise and vibration before and after gear modification in the experiments. Results manifest that modified third-speed gear oftransmission gets rid of whines while operating. Besides, the natural frequency oftransmission is obtained through modal text analysis experiment. This providestheoretical basis for the optimization of transmission structure. Optimization oftransmission structure helps improve the vibration feature of transmission and eliminatethe resonance phenomenon of transmission, which helps noise and vibration reduction.
