Marine propeller as a key component in the ship, the manufacture of marinepropeller is particularly important. However, due to the type of surface is made offree-form surfaces, its process is always a technical problems. the traditional processmethods is generally milling the casting marine propeller firstly, then manual polishing,not only low processing efficiency, precision can not be guaranteed, and workingconditions of workers is in poor conditions. CNC abrasive belt grinding machineaccording to the processing status of the marine propeller, the overall marine propellerprocessing background, using UG secondary development, in-depth study of the overallmarine propeller coordinates belt grinding automatic programming technology. Themain contents include the following:1) Based on the CAD model of the overall marine propeller provided by customers,importing into UG, marine propeller type surface analysis, coordinate conversion.2) Researching the producing of tool path of Overall marine propeller four-axislinkage belt grinding. Grinding Path Generation, combined with the overall marinepropeller surface characteristics, choosing combination the residual height method withparameters to generate the tool path, determine the pass line spacing and the cutting step,and then discrete the cutting line curve, Get discrete point cutter location data and thetool axis vector and stores the generated cutter location data, this is the pre-processing.3) Researching the post-processing of Abrasive belt grinding machine of thefour-coordinate. Building the Structural model of the four-axis CNC abrasive beltgrinding machine, analyzing its kinematic chain, using the DH method forsolvingmotion parameters of each axis. Researching the machine’s feed rate in order toimprove the machining efficiency and processing quality, relevant research, checkprocessing error in the the propeller belt grinding process and make appropriatecompensation, according to the characteristics of the numerical control system forformat conversion generate NC program. Checking interference where prone to makeinterference to ensure the correctness of the procedure.4) As UG for platform, We adopt VC++programming language and UG/OPENAPI for the re-development tool. with the help of differential geometry knowledge, wefinished the aircraft blade development of CNC auto-programming system which havefive main modules, such as control module, input and output module, cutter location and grinding tool path generation module, post-processing module and machiningsimulation module. The system can realize auto-generation of NC code and abrasivebelt grinding machining simulation with machining parameters and module input byusers.
