AS a key component of marine power machinery,propeller’s manufacturing precision and surface quality is directly related to marine propulsion efficiency, vibration and noise.Improve propeller machining accuracy has a vital role for improving the efficiency of the propeller, and reduce cavitation, and to improve the life of the propeller,reducing cavitation and improving the life of the propeller.Propeller is a large complex surface which can be up to several meters in diameter and weigh several or dozens of tons.it is a typical part which has large sizes and difficult to machining. The multi-axis CNC machine tools is used to process the propeller blades in rough machining, but the processing of polishing by fitter is still used in finish machining, which has a low efficiency and can’t guarantee the machining quality of propeller surface.Belt grinding is a kind of composite processing technology with grinding and polishing,which can gets rid of the propeller in extra allowance and obtain a good surface quality. Meanwhile, in order to ensure the machining accuracy of propeller,it is necessary to detect the propeller after machining processing.the traditional off-line measurement is not only inefficient, but also produce error by second clamping.To solve the problem above, this paper carried out the research on the control system for propeller detection and grinding, the main work is as follows:① The overall structure of the device and the design of detection structure was designed based on the analysis of propeller processing and testing equirements. Meanwhile, the hardware platform of the control system was established based on Sinumerik 840 D.② Research on the measurement path planning of propeller,including the identification of section line, the distribution of measurement sampling points and the optimization of measurement path. The method of probe radius compensation was also discussed.③ Research on the development of computer control system, the functional module of the control system was planned according to the control system requirements. First,the human machine interface of control system was designed by VB,while the dynamic link library of language was created by VC. Then,the human machine interface was embedded into the Sinumerik 840 D.Finally,complete the communication between HMI and NCK/PLC.④ Verify the interface of system operation,and and verify the feasibility of the control system for propeller detection and grinding.
