Chinese Spirit And Western Body，as The Exceptionally Beautiful Flower Of Architectures

Contemporary China is going through a diversified period, economic globalization,cultural globalization, the extensive exchanges and deep influence between countries wereunprecedented. Under the impact of the international architectural trends, the thought that topromote regional and national architectures in today’s society is so similar with the thought thatto revive traditional architectures and keep its traditional form in the Republic of China.Compared to the concessions which are more "westernized", architectures of Nanjing inthe Republic of China always followed the traditional culture and national spirit. Even underthe influence of western architectural trends, the form of architectures of Nanjing in theRepublic of China has undergone continuous development, but the architectures never give upto explore how to inherit the traditional essence, and forming its own unique style with Chinesespirit and western body. The architectural experience and limitations in the Republic of China inNanjing, can help us to find a right way for exploring new building, and can spur us to treat theinheritance and innovation of architectures correctly.Based on the methods of collecting the reference materials, researching on the buildings ofNanjing in the Republic of China, and analysing the examples, this paper is trying hard toexplore the changes of Nanjing buildings in the Republic of China, and analyze the reason forits development and change from the classic historical works and the architects, in order toenlighten the development of contemporary architectures. The opening part, introduces thebackground of research, and the development of architectures of Nanjing in the Republic ofChina. The focus of this research is the third and the fourth chapter, through the method called "Tracing prototype, study paradigm ", arranging and analysing the characteristics of architecturesof Nanjing in the Republic of China from two directions. First of all, according to modernwestern architectural style, the chapter Three summarizes the four western architectural trendsin architectures of Nanjing in the Republic of China, such as Neoclassicism, Eclecticism, ArtDeco and Modernism, then analyses the advanced design concepts, which were imported fromthe west, in two aspects: materials technology and functions of use. In the other hand, thechapter Four subdivides the architectures, which were affected from the traditional architecturaltrends, then discovers its features in different periods and the law of its development. Searchingfor the method to inherit the traditional cultures in both philosophy and national traits, thencombined with the advantage of architects from the Republic of China, summarizes the influence from traditional architectures to the architectures of Nanjing in the Republic of China.Based on the above research, the fifth chapter gets the conclusions about how to cope with theinternational influence and how to inherit the national traditions of our modern architectures.
