In this thesis, through a series of geotechnical centrifuge tests under same circumstance, thedifferent characteristics of failures in pure soil slope and geotextile reinforced slope are studied. Then changing the filler in the reinforced slope, the results demonstrate some failure mechanismof geotextile reinforced slope. In order to compare with centrifugal tests, numerical analyses thatbased on the limit equilibrium method are conducted using Geo SLOPE/W software. Here are the main consequences:1) In recent years centrifuge model test has become an important research tool ofgeotechnical experiments. The centrifuge tests make an analog of field stress level. Itshows the mechanism, form of deformation and key facts of stability in collapse slope, but there are also some shortages such as scale down, similarity, boundary effect andmeasurement in the centrifuge tests.2) Through these specific tests, it shows that, the collapse in pure soil slope always beginswith the failure at the slope toe; the safety factor increases when there are somereinforcements which bring improvement to the stress in the slope; the reinforced slopehas less settlement in the top and less deformation inside.3) In all the centrifuge tests of reinforced slope, the failure embodies as breakage of thereinforcement, and it happens in the middle or bottom part of the slope, about1/31/6ofthe slope height to the foot.4) It turns out that changes of the top filler have an insignificant influence to the stabilityof entire slope both in physical and numerical analog. It is reasonable to speculate thatstability of reinforced slope is not sensitive to the strength of soil in the top. When thesoil in the middle and bottom part is weaker, the slope is less stable.5) Three layers of soil respectively in the top, middle and bottom part of the slope areisolated to vary their strength parameters in the range of common soil, then a sensitivityanalysis based on limit equilibrium theory is proceed. From the results somephenomenon are observed: no matter what kind of soil it is in the top, the safety factoralmost stays the same; if there is a layer of weak soil in the middle or bottom part of thereinforced slope, especially in the bottom, it will be extremely dangerous for the slope.
