Running vehicle peripheral safety information is the basis of intelligent transportationresearch field. At present the information of road boundary, front of the vehicle andvehicle dynamics are usually acquired through on-board sensors such as industrial cameraetc. Safety information are acquired for only one problem of vehicles safety distance, lanedeparture and overtaking planning, its information content is relatively small, and it is notconducive to make a accurate decision for vehicle peripheral safety state. So this paperassumes that the vehicle running is similar to the ship sailing in the water, the fluidsurrounding the vehicle would flow when the vehicle is running. The data of fluid fieldinformation would be used to analyze the vehicle peripheral security situation.Firstly, the dynamic meshing technique which is used to simulate vehicle movementwas introduced in this text. Based on fluid dynamics theory, using simulation softwareFLUENT simulated the vehicle peripheral fluid field information on condition of one carrunning. By setting a reasonable boundary condition and optimizing fluid parameters suchas viscosity and density, meet vehicle safety information required.Secondly, using FLUENT off-line analyzed the flow field of various multiple carsrunning. Through compared the linear superposition flow field around one car with theflow field of direct simulation under the same condition, an approximate analytic formulawas got. This formula can fit multiple vehicle running conditions very well.Finally, real vehicle road test was carried out. Through the on-board sensors got theinformation of the vehicle and the front vehicle, such as the vehicle’s position, velocityand direction. Collect the information of real vehicle road examples as analysis samples. Itwas not only provided samples information for simulating flow field surrounding thevehicle, but also done the preliminary groundwork for getting online vehicle flow fieldinformation.
