Driving safety is a global safety issue. With the improvement of thenational economy, China has become the world’s largest car productioncountry and car ownership increases rapidly. Although vehicles becomemore and more security, there is still a high probability of traffic accidentsin China. Reviewing the major traffic accidents, the key issue of trafficsafety is not the quality of cars, but the poor awareness of drivers.Research shows that most of the accidents are due to human error. It isimportant to examine the effects of distracting tasks on drivingperformance. According to the result, propose appropriate safety measuresto improve driving safety. With the ever-changing mobile phone technology, phone call, textingmessage, microblog become more and more popular. Secondary taskrelated to phone use on multi-resources has become a threat for drivingsafety by competing with primary driving task. Shanghai site investigationon typical sections to knowledge secondary tasks’ type and proportion.Virtual reality driving simulation method is safe, controllable of the scene, easy data acquisition, and low cost and is the ideal tool to study drivingsecondary tasks. This problem was studied in this paper based on typicalvisual and cognitive secondary tasks. Compared with the control group inthe simulation experiment, perception and judgment showed a sense ofdegradation. Based on the results of experimental studies on driving safety,it is necessary to strengthen and improve perceptive, judgmental, andoperational ability.
