With the accelerated promotion of urbanization, more and more people areliving in a bad environment which is filled with noise, and the forms of atrium spaceare becoming more and more complex and diversify. It is very important to have abetter indoor acoustic environment while acting in the atriums, and only in this waycan we talk with each other clearly and have a good language articulation. Therefore,to find out the relationship between the space forms of atriums and acousticenvironment is a meaningful study. In this paper, the kernel is the space forms of atriums. Firstly, the evolution ofthe Atrium and classification of the forms are summarized at the point ofarchitectural acoustics. Meanwhile, the points of atrium space simulation processare discussed.Secondly, the acoustic software Odeon is applied to carry out analog simulation.Through data comparison and error analysis between the measurement andsimulation, Odeon’s precision, reliability and problems required to be noted insound field simulation of such spaces are verified.Thirdly, through the analysis of the test data of the atrium space in TheArchitectural design and research Institute of HIT, the basic characteristics of theacoustic environment of the atrium space are summarized. At the same time, throughthe simulated analysis, we get the relationship between the sound environment(including sound pressure level and reverberation time) of atrium space and thefactors which contain flat forms of atrium space, the layer numbers, absorbingmaterials, details and so on.Finally, based on the test results and simulating results, some optimal strategiesfor improving the sound environment of the atrium space are proposed.
