The technology of structures strengthened with fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) isnew, and worthy to be researched and popularized. The finite element theory has beena useful tool for simulating the structures strengthen. The finite element method (FEM)can simulate the stress and deformation of structures. Finite element analysis ishelpful to design and construct buildings, so that laboratory investigations need fewerpeople, materials than before, as well as to provide a valuable supplement to thestructure reinforcement design and construction. In this paper, the differentstress-strain relationships of concrete are used to simulate the structures with andwithout reinforcement. The theories are introduced on the RC frames strengthenedwith CFRP, the methods are found on that how to choose the finite element and thereasonable stress-strain relationships. The dynamic properties are analyzed on the frames with and withoutreinforcement. The modal and transient analyses are used to the frames with andwithout reinforcement. It can be shown from the results of analysis that the method ofthe structure strengthened with CFRP can improve the natural frequency and stiffnessof the frames, but it does not affect the vibration mode obviously. The inter-storydisplacement angles satisfy the seismic requirement under the action of the frequentand rare earthquake. The method strengthened with CFRP can reduce the seismicresponses.Three kinds of frame columns are researched, which are the column withoutreinforcement, the column with inner CFRP, and the column with inner and outerCFRP. The horizontal carrying capacities of them are analyzed. It can be shown fromthe results of analysis that both of the columns strengthened with CFRP can improvethe horizontal carrying capacity, but as for the deformation of the column, morereinforcement, the limitation of the horizontal deformation is not improved obviously.
