In civil engineering, redundancy can be considered as structural progressivecollapse resisting capacity. The research on redundance was carried out earlieroverseas, and has been very widely used in structural engineering. However, theresearch on foundation pit redundance theory is almost blank both at home and abroad.Deep excavation is a highly integrated, risky project, any inadvertent would lead to ahuge engineering accident. According to statistics, a lot of foundation pit accidents arecaused by the damage or deformation of retaining structure or support structure.Therefore, it is necessary to introduce redundancy into underground engineeringdesign theory to prevent the progressive collapse of foundation pit, enhancing itssafety and stability.This paper studied the redundancy of horizontal bracing system of foundation pit,and used PLAXIS3D to make three-dimensional numerical analysis of foundation pitredundancy.In the research on redundance of horizontal bracing system of foundation pit, barremoval method and structural component redundancy parameter calculation formulais used to analyse the horizontal bearing capacity and stiffness of redundancy ofhorizontal bracing system. Based on the premise that the concrete amount remainsunchanged, the effect of different levels of support arrangement, different internalsupport member section sizes on structure system redundancy are compared andanalysed, finally a horizontal support system optimization design considering ofredundancy is put forwarded.In the research on redundance of three-dimensional numerical analysis, spatialeffect of horizontal bracing system local damage on foundation pit is studied.Theanalysis is made on the effect of horizontal support system optimization designconsidered of redundancy on foundation pit soil vertical displacement of retainingstructure, lateral displacement and internal force,etc. Based on the above analysis, avertical support system optimization design considering of redundancy is put up.
