With the increase in electricity consumption, the substation load is increasing.The ventilation study of transformer room that needs a large number of coolingequipment is the difficulties of indoor substation design. Therefore, the reasonablesolution is very necessary to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.The transformer room temperature and indoor ventilation flow is an engineeringconcerns. This paper is using a transformer room as the study object. It uses CFDmethods to simulate ventilation design of the substation transformer room whichfocuses on the influence of air inlet, the location of the air vents upon the ventilationeffect.(1) The simulation results of the temperature field and velocity field of atransformer room, comparing simulation value with the literature measured value andliterature simulation value, are used to verify the reliability of the numerical model.(2) In order to simulate, we take the transformer room as a whole to conduct asimulation study. The transformer room contains the main transformer room and theheat sink room which we should be separately conducted a simulation study usingFluent software, and analyze the reasonableness of the two programs.(3) We study indoor ventilation flow and temperature variation by changing theair inlet and outlet location, increasing the number of air inlet. By comparing thetemperature, velocity field and temperature characteristic value in different condition,we conclude that that the air vents should be arranged just above the radiator, whichwill ensure that the radiator back and forth on both sides of the cold air to bypass,Thereby increase the path of the convection of the air with the heat sink, and improvethe ventilation efficiency. Increasing the number of inlets piece has some advantagesand disadvantages to heat sink room ventilation.(4) To summarize the actual transformer original room ventilation design andfive kinds of optimization on the temperature and velocity distributions in horizontaland vertical directions, we can get the conclusion that optimization of outlet locationprogram can reduce the average of heat sink room temperature0.5°C, which achievesbetter ventilation effect.
