With the increase in electricity consumption, the substation load is increasing.ifthe indoor substation transformer room which is ventilated poorly in the summeroperates with high load,it will cause the transformer room high temperature, whichseriously endangers the normal run of power generation equipment. So,the researchon the ventilation design of transformer room is very necessary.Ventilation design is the difficulty of transformer room design. This paper whichused CFD methods to simulate ventilation design of a substation transformer roomfocused on the influence of air inlet、air vents、radiator number on the ventilationeffect.Besides, it developed the program for transformer room ventilation design.First, this paper simulated the temperature field and velocity field of atransformer room which is mentioned in the literature using FLUENT. Comparingsimulation value with the literature measured value and literature simulation value, the effectiveness of the mathematical model was verified. Based on it, the originalventilation design of a substation transformer room was simulated. In the next place, this paper designed and simulated kinds of ventilation conditionwhich are based on the original ventilation design by changing the air inlet、air vents、and radiator number. By comparing the temperature field, velocity field andtemperature characteristic value in different condition, this paper focused on theinfluence of air inlet、air vents and radiator number on the ventilation effect. Thesimulation results show that when air inlet area is fixed, the air inlet should bearranged in the radiator side and its center height should be controlled in the radiatorcenter height or slightly offset position, it should not be higher than the radiator. When the air inlet location is fixed, air inlet area should be increased along the highdirection to improve ventilation effect. The air vents should be arranged just above theradiator. There are both advantages and disadvantages increasing the radiator number. The conclusions can provide technical support for the ventilation design oftransformer room. Finally, with the reference to the national standards and industry norms and theuse of Visual Basic language, this paper developed the program for transformer roomventilation design. The program has a certain reference value for the ventilationdesign of transformer room.
